The Christian Dreamtime Story
The idea of a specifically “Christian’ Dreamtime Story” is explored here, building upon a spiritual understanding of ” a timeless time of formative creation” (Dreaming ‘Spirituality, Wikipedia).
The following brief overview mirrors the thoughts of just a few writers who have touched on the subject in their works, notably Richard McBrien, (now deceased 2015)American Theologian/Priest: go to the website for the lists of his books
McBrien begins with the notion of the “Kingdom (Realm/Reign of God”; the unrestricted rule of God over the world i.e. the will of God, as proclaimed by Jesus is the one supreme norm of human action; it is none other than humankind’s total well-being.
…the Reign of God is not something other than God, it is OF God, and is God – the divine redemptive presence, reconciling, renewing, healing and liberating
…the notion was woven into the texture of Israel’s faith from the beginning, referring to the provident and protective kingship of God over the chosen people IN history and BEYOND history -LOCAL (the Arc of the Covenant) and UNIVERSAL, one ISRAEL, and over ALL people and all CREATION, in the PRESENT and in the FUTURE
… the fruit of the Reign/Realm/Kingdom is a whole NEW ,MORAL ORDER of peace, justice and mercy, the vision of Deutero-Isaiah(61:10 which Jesus made his own (Luke 4:18) …in Jesus, God has a human face; Jesus identified with the poor and the wretched of the earth, proclaiming all the while the forgiveness of God
…the cause of Jesus, begun in the lived Christianity of the Acts of the Apostles and the Letters of St Paul, continues in the Church Community today, through the redemptive Divine Presence actualized through the power of God’s reconciling Spirit which now proclaim Jesus, the Crucified One, as the heart of the message about the Reign/Kingdom of God – sharing the life of Jesus – living as the witness of Jesus handing on and celebrating the good news that God is for us by sharing
…a real belief in the hope we find in Jesus Christ
…love of God with others through discovering the joy and everyday things the practical, helping side of being Christian IN the world !
“… the attitude you should have is the one Christ Jesus had…
” Philippians 2:5 (Dreaming ‘Spirituality, Wikipedia 08/12/2010).
